Airlie Beach / Australien
Level: 1
3 Stunden
Erwachsene ab 95€ / Kinder ab 76€

OVERVIEW

Step back in time to Airlie’s earlier days on a tour that visits a venue steeped in local history, then surveys the area’s contemporary sights. True time travel may not yet be possible, but this is the next best thing. You’ll begin with a visit to Proserpine Historical Museum, where you can relive the days when sugar was this area’s primary cash crop. The exhibits also highlight the Whitsunday region’s historic cattle industries and the coffee trade that thrived here from the late 1800s until it took a back seat to tea-drinking. Continue to the beautifully located Coral Sea Resort (or similar) to enjoy some beach views. The setting is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a morning tea with views across to Airlie and a peaceful feel. Enjoy a buffet of premium assorted cakes, local produce fruit platters and Australian Damper together with your juice, tea or coffee. On the return drive, get current on a brief sightseeing jaunt through both Cannonvale and Airlie Beach’s local shopping district. You’ll have the option to disembark at the local markets to browse for souvenirs, but if so, you’ll need to make your own way back to the pier.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Travel by coach about 30 minutes inland from Airlie Beach to Proserpine Historical Museum.
• See exhibits that tell the story of the days when the Airlie and Whitsunday regions’ economies were tied to sugar, cattle and coffee.
• Ride with the coach back to the pier or step off to do some souvenir shopping and return on your own.

Experience the scenic natural splendour of the Whitsundays during this relaxing, half-day excursion to Whitehaven Beach via catamaran.

Airlie Beach, Catamaran Cruise, Whitehaven Beach

Depart the pier aboard a catamaran for the scenic, approximately 30-minute cruise to Whitehaven Beach. En route, learn about the history and natural wonders of the area. Upon arrival, spend approximately two hours on this beautiful, pristine island.

Swimming, Sunbathing, Beachcombing, Hill Inlet Lookout

During your visit, you can relax, unwind, and soak up the tropical sun, swim in the crystal-clear waters, and enjoy spectacular views from the Hill Inlet Lookout. You can also take a barefoot stroll along the shore of this idyllic, golden beach; since the sand is 98% silica, it does not retain heat. Following your visit, embark the catamaran for the approximately 30-minute cruise back to the pier.

Upon arrival at the pier, disembark the catamaran and commence the short walk back to the ship.

Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of walking, at times over uneven, bumpy, and sandy surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to embark/disembark the catamaran and transfer boat. Walking at Whitehaven Beach is at the discretion of each guest. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The weather in the tropics is changeable, and this tour may operate in inclement weather, if safe to do so. This tour may involve some rolling and pitching due to natural sea conditions; a certain amount of agility is required. Whitehaven Beach is at an uninhabited island with no reefs, minimal shade, and no shops or facilities. The restrooms are available at one end of the beach; however, they may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions. The walk to the Hill Inlet Lookout is not an easy one for all guests. The landing location of the beach will vary depending on the tide and prevailing conditions on the day of the tour, and be conducted via a smaller transfer boat. Whitehaven Beach is part of the Great Barrier Reef National Park; there is no snorkelling or coral-viewing on this tour. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Operation of this tour is subject to weather conditions.
