Landausflüge in Amorgos
Agios Pavlos beach is situated in the north part on the island about 5 kilometers from the port of Aegiali. It boasts a coast that combines sand and pebbles and its crystal clear water makes it a perfect place for snorkeling and swimming.
Agios Pavlos Beach
Depart the pier for a brief transfer to the Agios Pavlos beach. Nikouria Island in front of the beach is creating a barrier from winds and currents which makes the conditions ideal for snorkeling. The seabed is not flat, but made out of skirts that lower and rise up in different levels, still staying within shallow depth. Here you can usually spot cuttlefish swimming along with their whole family, in size order, diverse smaller and very curious fish like rainbow wrasse. The floor is dotted with large seaweed, and other treasures like mermaid's cups and octopus's gardens.
Snorkeling, Swimming, Sunbathing
Enjoy approximately three hours to swim, snorkel or simply relax and sunbathe in a tranquil ambiance surrounded by crystalline waters and dramatic hillsides.
The tour concludes back at the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a minimal amount of walking; however it is recommended for guests who are in good physical condition, and can swim in water too deep to stand. Please note that sunbeds and umbrellas are not included as services are very limited and cannot confirm availability. Guests are advised to wear a swimsuit under a cover-up, and bring sun protection, towel, bottled water and local currency from the ship. It is recommended that guests should not consume alcoholic beverages prior to any water activities.
Visit the island's trademark, the Byzantine Monastery of Hozoviotissa, wedged into a huge precipice at 300m from the sea, and then continue to Chora, one of the most picturesque villages in the Cyclades, on this half-day sightseeing excursion.
Monastery of PanagiaHozoviotissa
The island's top attraction is the 9thcentury cliffside monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin, a spiritual haven and one of the most important ecclesiastic monuments in Greece. Set high up on the steepest rock of Mt. Profitis Elias, 300metres above the Aegean Sea, the building resembles a "chest of drawers", according to the French explorer Pitton de Tournefort. Visible only from the sea, the monastery is an example of human triumph over nature, a wonder that will leave you awestruck. Once inside, you will be greeted by a monk who will take you on a tour of the Monastery.
Town of Chora
Following your visit at the Monastery, board your coach for a drive to Chora. Built at the centre of the island and surrounded by rocky hills, the maze-like Chora of Amorgos is considered to be one of the most picturesque in the Cyclades. Here you can admire a breathtaking setting full of Byzantine and Early Christian churches, lovely windmills, and white houses. You will stroll around the paved little streets which remind of a labyrinth and provide great photo opportunities and view the huge eucalyptus tree located in the middle of the village square - Plateia Lozza.
Your coach will wait for you, for your return drive to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking, and at times on cobblestone and uneven surfaces, with approximately 350 steps to negotiate when reaching the monastery. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. A strict dress code is observed at the monastery; ladies must wear skirts and cover their shoulders, men should wear long pants, as shorts are not permitted inside. Please be advised that the bus ride to the monastery will be along winding roads.
Visit two traditional island villages, hike the historic path and enjoy a Greek lunch at the beach front restaurant on this half-day excursion.
Village of Tholaria
Depart the pier for a short transfer to Tholaria, a picturesque mountain village with white-washed steps and traditional whitewashed houses. The locals still live mostly from traditional trades and they are well known for their hospitality. Here, visit a 500-year-old local house with an installed old stone oven and its cellar and learn about the architecture and the way locals lived. Before leaving, visit the village church named Agioi Anargyroi.
Village of Lagada
Continue to Lagada, the biggest village of Aegiali. Here, walk through a picturesque maze of white washed streets and admire Cycladic architecture. You will have a chance to see an old olive press and learn a traditional process of turning olives into oil.
Hike the Historic Path, Aegiali Beach, Lunch
Next, walk back to the port of Aegiali, through the old historic path for approximately 30 minutes where you will be rewarded with a delicious Greek lunch served at a beach-front restaurant.

Visit one of the most melancholic but also beautiful beaches in Greece on this sightseeing excursion. Kalotaritissa Beach along with the iconic Shipwreck of Olympia were used as a shooting area for various documentaries, as well as the movie "Le grand bleu" starring Jean Reno in 1988.
Panoramic Drive & Walk
Depart the pier for approximately one hour panoramic drive to the southwestern coast of Amorgos. Here, disembark the coach and begin your walk through beautiful vegetation including wild cypress, a tree which in the past was used to build roofs and ceilings of houses in Amorgos. Wild cypresses were named "Fides" (snakes), as their branches and trunks have formed snaky shapes because of the strong wind movements. After approximately 30 minutes walk, you will reach the Shipwreck of Olympia, one of the most melancholic yet beautiful landmarks of the island.
Shipwreck of Olympia
The shipwreck which ironically was previously called 'Inland' sank in February 1980. The captain was seeking for a place near the coast where they could find shelter from the strong north winds. But they were helpless and the rough sea threw them into the bay of Liverio near to the beach of Kalotaritissa. Luckily the whole crew was rescued. The shipwreck has been featured in many documentaries, as well as in Luc Besson's feature film "The Big Blue" starring Jean Reno.
Kalotaritissa Beach, Free Time, Swimming, Sunbathing
