Aumann, the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book, the Knesset (Israel's Parliament), and the State Supreme High Court.

Mt. Zion

Next, your drive continues on to Mt. Zion, located south of today's city walls. Upon arrival, a visit is made to the Room of the Last Supper, where Jesus' last meal with his disciples and the descent of the Holy Spirit is thought to have taken place. Located on the ground floor of Mt. Zion is the Tomb of King David, one of the most visited and venerated sites by people of the Jewish faith.

Dormition Abbey

Stop at the Dormition Abbey, a massive yet serenely-beautiful structure topped by a high-domed bell tower, a conical dome, and corner towers. Following your visit, proceed for a buffet lunch served at a local hotel. After lunch, re-board your coach for the drive to the Old City.

Old City

After entering through the Jaffa Gate, your walking tour passes by the bazaar, the Christian Quarter and part of the Via Dolorosa. Amongst the sites you will view is the golden-topped Dome of the Rock. A photo stop is then made at the famous Western (Wailing) Wall, the holiest site in the Jewish world. A visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher is also included. Perched on Golgotha Hill, the church marks the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection.

Kidron Valley

Re-board your coach for the drive past the city walls and through the Kidron Valley. En route, you can visit the Church of All Nations at the Gardens of Gethsemane.

Bethlehem & Views of Jerusalem
Classic - Selected Excursion
Dauer: 9.5 Stunden
Code: ASD-J

Experience the ancient beauty of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, the Garden of Gethsemane and some of the most sacred sites in history during this scenic, full-day sightseeing excursion.

Jerusalem, Knesset, Supreme Court, and Shrine of the Book

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to Jerusalem. There is so much history in Israel, both secular and religious, that familiar names catch your attention all the way from Ashdod to Jerusalem. Upon arrival in Jerusalem, take a panoramic sightseeing drive through the capital, passing the Knesset (Israel's Parliament), Supreme Court and Shrine of the Book.

Mount Scopus, Golden City View, Valley of Kidron, Garden of Gethsemane, Church of All Nations

Next, continue to the Mount Scopus for a magnificent view over the Golden City. From here, drive to the Valley of Kidron and follow in the footsteps of Jesus as you walk through the Garden of Gethsemane. It was in this garden of olive trees that Jesus spent the last moments before his arrest. Early Christians were already holding gatherings here before the first church was built around 380 A.D. Visit the Church of All Nations, and see some of the oldest olive trees in Jerusalem.

Lunch, Bethlehem, Church of the Nativity, Shopping, Sherover Promenade, Temple Mount

After a stop for lunch, re-board your coach and drive to Bethlehem, the city where Jesus Christ was born. A visit is made to the Church of the Nativity, built above the place where Christ is said to have been born. The actual Cave of the Nativity is a small crypt with a vaulted masonry roof. Poor Bethlehem families used the rocky hollows of the region as stables or dwellings, so the tradition that places the Nativity in a cave is not at odds with the story of the manger. After vising the church, some free time is made available to browse for souvenirs at a local shop. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach for the approximately 1.5-hour drive to the pier in Ashdod. En route, a photo stop is made at the Sherover Promenade for another panoramic view of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 0.93 miles (about 1.5 kilometres), at times over uneven, gravel and rocky surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach, at the Church of the Nativity and Garden of Gethsemane. This tour is not suitable for guests with a fear of heights, guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and local currency for purchases from the ship. Guests must carry their passports for the visit to Bethlehem. A visit to the Old City of Jerusalem or Wailing Wall is not included on this tour. The driving distance between the pier and Jerusalem is approximately 1.5 hours in each direction. Please be advised that the itinerary and duration of the tour might be affected by traffic. The tour sequence may vary.

Jaffa Walking Exploration
Classic - Included Excursion
Dauer: 5.0 Stunden
Code: ASD-U

Discover the ancient port city of Jaffa on-foot during this scenic and informative, half-day sightseeing excursion.

Ashdod, Old Jaffa, Ancient Port

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive north to Jaffa. Upon arrival, your guided walking tour begins at Old Jaffa. This ancient port has been utilised since at least the Bronze Age, and was once the only entry port to the land of Israel. Jaffa is a microcosm encircled by the modern city of Tel Aviv, but its character remains intact, and it is perfectly preserved due to a massive and detailed restoration project that took place in the 1960s.

Old Stone Buildings & Arches, Cobblestone Alleys, Art Galleries, Andromeda's Rock, New Jaffa

Stroll amongst old stone buildings and arches, and narrow, winding cobblestone alleys filled with art galleries, where a stop is made to browse some of their works. View the iconic Andromeda's Rock in the distance. This is where the prophet, Jonah, boarded the ship for Tarshish, St. Peter stayed in the house of Simon the Tanner, and Andromeda, the daughter of Jaffa's king, was tied to a rock, awaiting the sea monster. In addition, visit New Jaffa, home to hip, trendy shopping and a stylish nightlife scene.

Abu Lafia Bakery, Pastry

Following your walking tour, a stop is made for a light pastry at the famous Abu Lafia Bakery. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier.

Kibbutz Yavne & the Ayalon Institute
Classic - Included Excursion
Dauer: 5.0 Stunden
Code: ASD-P

Discover daily life on a kibbutz, along with the site of a secret operation during the struggle for Jewish independence, during this captivating, half-day sightseeing excursion.

Kibbutz Yavne

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to the Kibbutz Yavne. Founded in 1941, it is still managed as an old fashioned, wholly-cooperative and prosperous kibbutz of 850 members, including the children and the elderly. The kibbutzim were founded by members of the first settlers who immigrated to Palestine. The first one, Kibbutz Degania, was established in 1909 at the southern end of the Sea of Galilee. In the years to follow, other kibbutzim were founded around the Sea of Galilee and nearby Jezreel Valley. Today, there are 256 Kibbutzim in Israel; most of them are located in peripheral areas throughout Israel. In recent decades, some kibbutzim have been privatised, and changes have been made in the communal lifestyle

Upon arrival at the Kibbutz Yavne, your guided tour begins with an introductory session of kibbutz life, and a visit to its small museum. Afterward, visit the dairy and crop farms, feed centre, a large food-processing factory, watch factory, and members' residential houses with their solar farm. The latter is located within a vineyard, and tended to by the young generation.

Ayalon, Ayalon Institute, Visitors Centre, Underground Ammo Factory

Next, re-board your coach and drive to the nearby Ayalon Institute, where a spectacular event took place under the noses of the British Mandate during the struggle of the Jewish Underground. Upon arrival at the Visitors Centre, begin your guided walking tour. Along the way, a visit is made to a seminar and training institute where newly-arrived settlers trained for life on kibbutz. Beneath the institute, visit the secret underground ammunitions factory, which operated at a time when it was forbidden for Jews to use, possess, and/or produce weapons or ammunition. This site is kept as it was, with original machines still in operational order, and a fascinating window into Israel's pre-State past nearly 80 years ago. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 0.65 miles (about one kilometer), at times over uneven and natural ground, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at the sites visited. Although this tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility, it not suitable for guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
