Experience to the local culture of Buton today. Begin your day with a warm traditional welcome right at the port, followed by a visit to a local market followed by the chance to see women making stunning ikat weavings at a local fishing village. The highlight of this tour is your visit to Buton Palace Fortress (Benteng Keraton), an unusual fort built by a local sultan centuries ago. Enjoy a cultural performance, as well as regional culinary specialties that served by locals wearing traditional costume.
Please note: This tour entails a moderate amount of walking with a few steps. Guests are recommended to wear causal light, comfortable clothing (no shorts, please), walking shoes, sun protection and hat. To respect local culture, women should be "reasonably" covered; shorts and short skirts are not acceptable. As a local tradition, guests may be expected to sit on the floor together with the locals at the palace. Please ask permission before taking pictures of local people. Guests may be split into groups and assigned a different departure time once onboard.
