On the leisurely drive to the inland estate, you will gain an appreciation for the surrounding Cockpit Country, a gorgeous landscape named in the 1700s for its exceptionally steep hills and valleys that supposedly resemble a man-of-war’s tight cockpit. While touring Good Hope, part of which borders the Martha Brae River, you will see where sugar was once processed from the cane. The highlight will be a tasting of Appleton Rum, a distilled spirit made nearby with rich molasses, sugar cane juice and limestone-filtered water. These blended rums are recognized for their notes of vanilla, coffee, cocoa and hazelnut. As you will discover during the sampling, the 12-year-old rum is a fine example. Spend hours relaxing however you please on the beach at Discovery Bay, a beautiful stretch of sand with plenty of amenities, including a floating water park.

After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a scenic drive along Jamaica’s lovely northern coast to Discovery Bay. When Christopher Columbus landed here in 1494, he called the town Puerto Seco or Dry Harbor because the natural harbor lacked fresh water nearby.

Although the area’s colonial-style architecture is a draw, Discovery Bay is known more for beautiful Puerto Seco Beach, which is rimmed by the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean. You will spend hours here enjoying the setting, as well as all sorts of other amenities.

You might stretch out on the sand, take an invigorating dip in the sea or in the freshwater swimming pool and stroll the horseshoe-shaped shoreline. Stands of palm trees line the beach, so there is also plenty of shade if you wish to get out of the sun.

If you are looking for activities, a floating water park is just offshore with slides, trampolines and a rock-climbing feature. You could also rent snorkeling equipment and see the tropical wonders that lie beneath the water’s surface.

When you are ready to dine, a hearty lunch will be served in the Santa Maria Restaurant. It is named for one of Columbus’ ships, and the park along one side of the bay is also named for the explorer, who is revered here.

Saddle up for the approximately 2 1/2-hour horseback ride n’ swim. Ride along Papillion Cove, where the movie "Papillion" was shot in 1973, and locations where "Return to Treasure Island" (1985) and "Passion and Paradise" (1988) were shot. You’ll see the remains of Richmond and Llandovery, two of the oldest sugar plantations on the island. Be caressed by the refreshing breeze of the Caribbean Sea as your trail takes you along the charming coastline to Chukka Beach.

Your tour begins with a scenic drive along the coast to a small town known as St. Ann’s Bay. View the sights from your comfortable coach as your guide narrates the history and provides interesting facts about Jamaica. Observe the town’s classic Court House of 1866 and Statue of Columbus, honoring his landing here. Continue to Fern Gully, a gorge filled with a hundreds of varieties of ferns.

Visit Konoko Falls and Park, the Taino Indians called this Paradise and you’ll see why these original inhabitants choose this as a settlement site. You’ll hear the roar and feel the fresh mist of the spray from the spectacular waterfall. Follow the trails with your guide through this amazing rainforest. Visit the museum which features artifacts from the original inhabitants and early colonials that were excavated on site.

Stop at the colorful gift shop offering native products and handicrafts before re-boarding your coach. A winding nature trail through a lush jungle in the heart of the spectacular Cranbrook Flower Forest, leads to the start of this unforgettable Canopy Tour adventure. After instructions from extensively trained guides, you’ll take a short nature walk to the first platform nestled on the hillside overlooking the treetops and jungle ‘canopy’. Soar through the trees using an intricate system of harnesses, pulleys and carabineers on horizontal traverses, while gazing at the surrounding jungle until you arrive at the next cliffside platform, 45 feet above the ground. A series of traverses ranging from 105 feet to 660 feet in length will have you swinging through the Laughlands River Gorge, a giant valley carved from the surrounding mountain by ancient waters.

From your bird’s eye view, you’ll survey the flora and fauna of this magnificent landscape all while listening to the gentle sounds of nature. At different points in the tour, you’ll even get a glimpse of the miles-away Caribbean Sea and learn interesting facts about the surrounding tree and plant life. After leaving the valley, you really fly, embarking on a series of long throws, with the last traverse being 600 feet long. Come and experience an unforgettable two-in-one adventure. Take a picturesque journey into the countryside to the White River Valley property and travel via three traverses through the trees on your canopy adventure before continuing the river tubing safari. The extensively trained canopy guides will give a short safety briefing before you take an invigorating nature walk to your first platform. Soar through the trees on three horizontal traverses ranging from 65 to 160 feet in length.

Your river tubing adventure begins at the 17th century landmark, Spanish Bridge, a site you can only be seen on your river tubing expedition. You’ll receive a safety briefing from the experienced river guides who will suit you with equipment for your journey ahead. This three-mile ride passes through coconut plantations, bamboo groves and along river banks filled with indigenous flora and fauna.

The real adventure lies on the White River as you enjoy her many moods, which will bring you to challenging rapids and enchanting lagoons. As you disembark the river, back at the White River Valley property, you’ll have a garden paradise to enjoy. Visit the property’s facilities nestled within the architecture of a traditional Jamaican village. Be sure to stop by the Parrot Bar and Grill to indulge in some of our traditional Jamaican jerk cuisine, refresh yourself with a cool drink, browse the Valley Trader gift shop or just sit back and relax before you head back to your ship.

Race through the jungle treetops over Dunn’s River Falls on a zipline and then climb the gentle cascades, stopping every so often for a refreshing dip in the cool mountain pools.

After departing from the pier, you will settle in for a relaxing and immensely picturesque drive along the northern coast of Jamaica, eventually heading inland to Dunn’s River Falls. It will be quite the sight, as the iconic cascades gently tumble 600 feet over limestone rocks.

The falls are especially spectacular when seen from above, racing through the treetops on a zipline high above the jungle floor. You will have the opportunity to ride the zipline, following a brief orientation on how to maximize the experience.

It will be absolutely exhilarating as you pass over trees and through pathways cut out of the dense foliage at heart-pounding speeds. You will be treated to a literal bird’s-eye view of the gorgeous tropical landscape below so don’t blink because it will go by fast.

For a different perspective of Dunn’s River Falls, you will then climb the cascade, stopping on occasion for a refreshing dip in one of the countless pools in the terraced limestone. You might also stand directly under one of the falls and experience an exhilarating massage from Mother Nature. Or simply rest on a rock and take in the serene jungle setting.

After all the excitement and activity, you will drive to a nearby restaurant for a traditional Jamaican meal and then continue on to the pier.
