Then, tour the sanctuary to learn about Tacugama’s mission in rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned chimps. On this guided tour, you will learn about the sanctuary’s conversation efforts, observe chimps in their natural habitats, and discover the challenges of protecting wildlife in West Africa.

After your visit, enjoy lunch before heading back to Freetown to join other guests for the afternoon amputee football game.

The civil war in Sierra Leone (1991-2002) not only killed more than 50,000 people, it also let to thousands of innocent civilians having legs, arms or hands forcibly amputated by rebel soldiers. The Flying Star Amputees are a group of football teams across Sierra Leone born out of the adversity of this war.  All players are victims of civil wat amputations, and football has brought them joy, confidence and hope for a better future for disabled people in Sierra Leone. Join these athletes for an animated and dynamic afternoon game at Brima Attouga Mini Stadium.
