Kalabahi is the capital and port for Alor. Upon arrival in Kalabahi Port, experience a welcome of a traditional dance performance. Then board your local non-air-conditioned transport and drive to the local village of Tapkala. Visit the Abui Tribe, an indigenous tribal group renowned for their Moko drum. Traditionally the bronze drums are negotiated and traded for the price of a bride and other ritual ceremonies. Take time to observe their traditional house and learn about their simple way life.
Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of walking (over 500 meters), including on steps and inclined surfaces, making it less suitable for those with limited mobility (staff is on standby for those needing to turn back to the coach early). Guests are recommended to wear walking shoes, light and comfortable clothing, sunscreen and hat. Please ask permission before taking pictures of local people. Guests may be split into groups and assigned a different departure time once onboard.
