Explore the marine wildlife and the waters surrounding the Kodiak Archipelago, a grouping of 25 islands off Alaska's southern coast. Board your vessel and have your camera ready to capture the incredible wildlife that awaits you in the water and along the shore, from sea birds to sea lions and more.
Your highly skilled guides have decades of experience and extensive knowledge of Kodiak's local history and commercial fishing. Receive a guided 2.5 hour tour on your sightseeing vessel that includes a heated cabin for comfort as well as outside seating for optimal wildlife viewing. Tour of the harbor where many of the famous king crab boats from the "Deadliest Catch" moor for the summer before starting their season and heading out to the Bering Sea.
Motoring out of the harbor on your boat visit the nearby bird rookeries abundant with birdlife, including two varieties of puffins (tufted and horned) as well as kittiwakes, all nesting on the steep-faced cliffs of the surrounding islands. As you gaze upwards you may spot one of the impressive bald eagles that call the Sitka spruce trees home.
As you voyage into deeper waters (weather dependent) keep your eyes peeled for the active and abundant marine life that can be spotted, including several species of whale such as orca, minke and humpback. You may also spot sea lions, sea otters lounging ashore.
There are a few historical sights to be seen on this tour, including World War II gunneries perched atop the cliffs of some of the smaller islands within the tour's view. With their deep knowledge, your guides have a great deal of information to share about all that you pass by - so just ask!
Return to the port with a camera full of memories, feeling refreshed and inspired by your scenic viewing of Kodiak's numerous attractions.
Please note: Due to the steps and uneven ground in many places, this tour is not suitable to anyone with any type of mobility challenge, including those who require or use a wheelchair, walker, cane or any other type of mobility assistance.This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, approximately 200 feet, some of this over a sloped dock (up to 30 degrees) and ramps, with two to four stairs; there is a steep ramp to reach the vessel. Guests must have the agility to embark and disembark the vessel in a timely manner and on their own accord. Minimum age to participate is 12, and there are no weight restrictions. Guests are recommended to bring camera and sunglasses and to wear shoes with non-slip soles. This tour provides an inclusive small group experience within a limited capacity; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Wildlife sightings are likely but not guaranteed.
Cannery Row, Kodiak boat harbor, Downtown Kodiak
Begin your 90 minute walking tour at your ship and proceed down Cannery Row, past the seafood processing plants which are the lifeblood of Kodiak's economy. Learn about the 1912 Katmai volcanic eruption, the 1964 Great Alaskan Earthquake and Tsunami, and the 1989 Exxon Valdez Oil Spill.

Get up close to fishing boats and learn about the catches, the storms and the men and boats lost at sea in the most dangerous occupation in the United States. Examine foul weather gear, survival equipment, and hooks, nets, and crab pots, while real Alaskan fishermen work nearby. Walk through the Kodiak boat harbor and end at the Fishermen's Memorial in front of the Harbormaster Building in downtown Kodiak. From here, proceed back by bus to the ship or explore Kodiak's downtown on your own. The tour route is approximately one mile long.
Please note: This tour involves walking one mile along rough road conditions including an unpaved area, occasional curbs, wooden harbour floats and two harbour ramps 50 feet long which slope up to 20 degrees at low tide. The tour is not wheelchair accessible. Children over 10 may be brought on this tour. Sturdy comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Guests should dress according to the time of year, bearing in mind Alaska's often inclement weather.

opportunities. The park's coastline is inhabited by a wide array of diverse seabird species, and whale sightings are frequently
reported in this area throughout the season.
Military History
During your self -guided hike, you can view World War II bunkers from Kodiak's wartime past, including the Miller Point Gun Placement, one of the largest bunkers in the park.
The forested trails may include small wooden boardwalks, short 10% to 20% slopes, and a 68-step staircase (with rest spots). Arrive at the main parking lot to re-board your transfer bus for the return drive to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a self guided walk of approximately 1.5-2 miles (2.4-3.2 kilometers) over natural unpaved trails, including inclines and 68 stairs. Trails pass ocean-side bluffs. It is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or those who utilize a wheelchair. Guests are advised to dress warmly in layers, including water-resistant outerwear and wear hiking shoes or boots. Entrance to the Museum in the park, if open, is not included and is $10 USD cash.Transportation to and from the trail head is via school bus. Space is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment. Whale sightings from the bluffs cannot be guaranteed. Fear of heights may impede enjoyment in some areas as the trail passes several cliffsides to the ocean.
