Die Hauptstadt Mosambiks geht auf die Gründung eines portugiesischen Stützpunktes um 1544 zurück und zählt heute über eine Million Einwohner. Die Amtssprache ist Portugiesisch, 95% der Landesbevölkerung sind Bantu, der Rest Weiße, Asiaten oder Mischlinge. Maputo ist die wichtigste Hafenstadt des Landes, von hier werden u.a. Cashewnüsse, Baumwolle, Zuckerrohr und Tee exportiert. Sie unternehmen eine Panoramarundfahrt durch die lebhafte Stadt und sehen u.a. das "Eiserne Haus", das portugiesische St. Sebastian Fort, den Bahnhof aus dem Jahre 1910 (ein Entwurf von Gustave Eiffel), das Rathaus und die Kirche Nossa Senhora da Conceicao. Sie spazieren über den Independence Square und besuchen das Museum für Geschichte und Naturkunde, welches in einem imposanten Kolonialgebäude untergebracht ist. Durch das Stadtviertel Polana und vorbei am geschäftigen Markt kehren Sie zurück zum Hafen.

Sie lernen die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten von Maputo, der Hauptstadt von Mosambik, auf einem gemütlichen Spaziergang kennen. Sie starten ab der Pier und fahren zunächst mit dem Bus zum Bahnhof, der von keinem Geringeren als Gustave Eiffel entworfen und gebaut worden ist. Von dort aus startet Ihr Rundgang. Sie sehen den Zentralmarkt, lokal bekannt als der "Mercado", mit seinem Angebot an frischen Produkten, der von interessanten Gebäuden aus der Zeit um 1900 umgeben ist. Sie sehen u.a. das Rathaus, die Kathedrale und den Botanischen Garten. In einem Café stärken Sie sich mit einem Getränk. Anschließend Rückkehr per Bus zum Schiff.
