After that you will be treated to a view of beautiful, crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay and its signature pier. The landmark Waioli Huiia Church stands nearby, a reminder of the missionaries who settled here in the 1830s. Finally, you will depart the North Shore and return to Nawiliwili, but not before stopping for photos of the 150-foot Opaekaa Falls. Opaekaa means “rolling shrimp,” which were once abundant in the stream.

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 75-minute drive to the famous Waimea Canyon, the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific' and most popular attraction on Kauai. Upon arrival, ascend to the Waimea Valley State Park Lookout, approximately 3,400 feet (about 1036 metres) above sea level. Here, enjoy spectacular panoramic vistas and photo opportunities overlooking the deep gorge and surrounding countryside. The way the reds and browns of Waimea Canyon's volcanic rock contrast with the green hues of the lush, tropical vegetation and deep blue of the Pacific are truly awe-inspiring, and not to be missed.


Lunch, Smith's Kauai, Wailua River, Boat-Cruise, Fern Grotto,

Next, re-board your coach and proceed for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, re-board your coach and transfer to Smith's Kauai. Upon arrival, embark a boat for a picturesque cruise up the Wailua River, the only navigable river in Hawaii, en route to the famously romantic Fern Grotto. Upon arrival, disembark your boat for the short walk to this lovely natural amphitheatre of lava rock and tropical vegetation. You are met and serenaded, Hawaiian-style. Leaving the Fern Grotto, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 0.75 miles (about 1.2 kilometres), at times over uneven, grassy, and natural surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and embark/disembark the boat, and 40 steps and a steep slope at Waimea Valley State Park. This tour is not suitable for guests prone to seasickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to the beautiful Kauai Coffee Estate. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour along a shaded, meandering path. En route, learn about Kauai's coffee history and the coffee grown at the estate, and pass by five different coffee varietals. In addition, observe the entire coffee process, from initial blossoming, through harvesting and processing, to the final roasting. Following your tour, proceed to the Visitors Centre for a complimentary sample of Kauai coffee accompanied by a special treat, a chocolate-and-macadamia nut cookie. Afterward, you can browse the gift shoppe to purchase a memento of your visit.


Kilohana Plantation, Narrated Antique Train-Ride, Sugar Cane, Taro & Fruit Orchards

Next, re-board your coach and head to the Kilohana Plantation, which began in 1864 and, at its peak, grew to over 22,000 acres (about 8,903 hectares) of sugar cane. Today, Kilohana spans over 40,000 acres (about 16,187 hectares), and your visit encompasses approximately 105 acres (about 42.5 hectares) of it. Upon arrival, your visit begins with a narrated, approximately 40-minute train-ride pulled by an authentic, 1939 Whitcomb diesel engine train. Whilst relaxing in one of two mahogany coaches, pass through and take in spectacular panoramic views of sugar cane, taro, and exotic fruit orchards, endangered Hawaiian trees, tropical plants and flowers, animal pastures, and more.


Rum Experience at the Plantation House by Gaylords, Company Store, Shopping

Following your antique train-ride, de-board the train and proceed on-foot to the the Plantation House by Gaylords. Upon arrival, enjoy a Rum Experience. Afterward, stop by the Koloa Rum Company and browse through showcases of Kauaian-made products for sale. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
