Landausflüge in Nizza
Enjoy a half-day tour to Antibes, one of the most well-known resort towns on the Cote-D'Azur. Known as Europe's largest yacht harbour, it once was the only large town between Marseille and Italy. The only town on the coast to be protected by ramparts it has managed to conserve historic monuments from each period in its heritage.
Antibes
Your tour departs Nice for the scenic drive to Antibes. Upon arrival, depart on a guided walking tour and view the small Roman and medieval streets, walk along the ramparts overlooking the sea and visit the Provencal market, in the heart of Antibes. Here, experience a festival of fragrances and colours: olive oil and spices, fruit and flowers, fish, vegetables, and cheese. During your tour you overlook Port Vauban, Europe's largest yacht harbour, where the billionaires' super yachts are anchored.
Absinthe Tasting
After your walking tour, experience an Absinthe tasting in a quaint shop that sells regional delicacies and olive oil. The tasting takes place in a beautiful 19th century vaulted cellar with a Roman well, located underneath the market. There, amidst wonderful "Belle Époque" décor, taste toasts of tapenade, (an olive & caper paste) and pissaladière, (an open onion tart prepared by the nearby baker especially for the occasion). You have the opportunity to taste a small glass of Absinthe, the famous wormwood-based alcoholic beverage, so dear to French poets in the 19th century. The Absinthe is served from a beautiful crystal fountain on a sugar cube placed on a special spoon. Marvel in this hidden gem that on your own you may have never discovered.
Following your tasting experience, enjoy some free time before you board the coach for the return trip to Nice.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking over uneven surfaces and cobblestone streets for approximately 1400m (1 mile) and negotiate 30 steps. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, walking shoes and bring sun protection.
