Islay and whisky have a long history, they go together like a fine single malt and a roaring log fire. Back in the 14th century, the Irish monks were the first to spot the island’s potential for distilling the water of life. With its fertile lands capable of supplying lots of barley, pure slightly peat-infused waters, and huge amounts of fuel in the form of peat, the conditions were ideal. The local people then propelled it with ever greater speed, setting up their own stills.
Nowadays, Islay is home to some of the most iconic whisky brands in the world. Explore the history and heritage of the local distillery and taste the award-winning expressions straight from the source.
Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of walking. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, a light sweater or jacket, flat, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended. Guests must be at least 18 years old to consume alcohol.
