During this enjoyable walk we’ll walk from the pier up to the church hill to a viewpoint overlooking the town and its fjord, and learn about the history of Stykkisholmur. End the exploration with a visit to the Icelandic Eider Centre, a modern exihibition and knowledge center which invites visitors to learn about the eider duck and methods of eiderdown farming.
Hiking the Berserk Lava Fields: A Journey Through Iceland's Wild Terrain

The rugged Berserk Lava Field covers most of the western part of the Helgafell County and stretches between the mountain slopes and the sea. Its sources are four prominent, but differently sized scoria craters forming an east-west row from the Ogress Pass (Kerlingarskard). The lava flows created two lakes on their southern side and added to the serenity and beauty of the landscapes, but also represented a difficult obstacle as the area became inhabited during the Age of Settlement. Take a hike down one of the walking paths through the hardened lava field and back.
Please note: This excursion entails moderate hiking and walking for a total of 90 minutes over loose gravel, rocks, and other rough surfaces, making this tour less suitable for guests with limited mobility or guests using a wheelchair. Warm, layered clothing appropriate to the local weather (including wind/weatherproof outerwear) and sturdy walking shoes are recommended. For safety purposes, the lava is not flowing - the walk will be conducted through a hardened lava field.

Please note: This tour includes 250 meters of walking form the bus to the ship, guests must have the balance and ability to withstand slippery surfaces and a bumpy boat ride. Warm, layered clothing appropriate to the local weather and flat, good walking shoes are recommended.
