Experience Valparaíso through the eyes and works of its artists during this immersive, half-day sightseeing excursion.
Valparaiso, Art Studio Experience
Depart the pier for your art studio experience in Valparaiso. The jumble of narrow streets winding their way through the city's unusual architecture, along with the colourful houses perched upon the 42 hills surrounding the bay, have inspired artists of all types for centuries. Hundreds of poets, painters, musicians, and sculptors were drawn to this curious city, and have made Valparaiso their home.
Three Private Home or Studio Visits, Art Displays, Artist Conversations
Your guided tour includes three, approximately 40-minute visits with different visual artists in their private homes and/or studios, each of which stands out for its location or structure, and reflects the personality and spirit of the artists. During your visits, the artists display their works of art and explain the different stages they have taken over the years. You can also engage in direct conversation with the artists and experience the 'Porteño' ambience that motivates their work; a rare opportunity to garner a unique insight into Valparaíso as seen through the eyes of its artists.
'Porteño' Restaurant, Cocktails, Appetizers, Bay Views
Following your visits with the artists, re-board your coach and proceed for cocktails and appetizers on the terrace of a good 'Porteño' restaurant with an enchanting view of the bay. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 437 yards (about 400 metres), at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and at the cocktail venue. Valparaiso, Casablanca Valley, Vineyards
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 50-minute drive to the heart of the beautiful Casablanca Valley. Whilst there have been vineyards in the Casablanca Valley since 1875, the true potential of the valley wasn't discovered until the 1980s, when it was determined that the soils and the conditions were similar to those of the Napa and Sonoma valleys in California. The Casablanca Valley is oriented in such a way that daily ocean breezes cool the grapes on the vines, resulting in intensely fruity wines when properly vinified.
Local Winery Visit, Guided Tour and Tasting
A visit is made to one of the local wineries in the Casablanca Valley. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the winery, and see and learn about the wine-making process. Following your tour, proceed for a tasting of some of the wines produced here. Leaving the winery, re-board your coach and head to the nearby Puro Caballo Ranch.
Puro Caballo Ranch, Purebred Chilean Horses, Horsemanship Exhibition, Restaurant, Lunch
Upon arrival, you are welcomed and introduced to the 'huaso' traditions of Chile. First, learn about purebred Chilean horses. Due to their special morphology, they can do things that no other species of horses in the world can do. Next, enjoy a glass of Pisco sour whilst observing an exhibition of the skills of the 'duet' between man and horse. Following this exhibition, proceed for a delicious Chilean lunch at the ranch's restaurant, which features traditional rural decor. After lunch, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 0.5 miles (about 0.8 kilometres), at times over uneven and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach, and 15 steps at the Winery and Puro Caballo Ranch. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing in layers with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, bottled water, and US Dollars, local currency, or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. The tour sequence may vary.

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to the seaside village of Isla Negra. Besides being world-renowned known for its wines and seafood, Chile is also famous for its poets, including Nobel Prize winners Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda. Today, visit two of the houses of the latter, now turned into museums.
Guided Tour of Pablo Neruda's Isla Negra Museum-House, Gift Shop
Upon arrival in Isla Negra, a visit is made to the elegant museum-house of Pablo Neruda. The Nobel-laureate Chilean poet, diplomat and politician built this house himself, and kept his exotic collection of shells and nautical objects here.
Guided Tour of Pablo Neruda's La Sebastiana, Gift Shop
Following your guided tour, re-board your coach and head to another former home of Neruda, La Sebastiana. The coast of central Chile is known for its fish filled seas, botanically rich shores, and access to fine wines. Centered by the bustling port city of Valparaíso, quiet fishing villages and beach communities string out along the coast to the north and south, offering dramatic, contrasting landscapes. This tour brings guests up close and personal to the source to learn about some of the region’s most fascinating ingredients with a renowned chef and forager, followed by an elaborate meal that highlights the best of what the Chilean coast has to offer.
Islan Negra, Foraging
Spend about 45-minutes driving south from the port of Valparaíso to Isla Negra, a quiet coastal area where we will meet chef and forager Gustavo Moreno. Gustavo is the chef of the Mareal restaurant in Pichilemu further south and he will lead a hiking tour of the rugged, boulder filled shores that are blanketed with vegetation that change by the micro-season to gather the abundant edible plants like succulents and flowers, as well as seaweeds that grow amidst the rocks and wash up along the sand.
Isla Negra is quiet, seaside community that is home to one of the residences of Nobel Prize winning poet Pablo Neruda. Its wild, pristine beaches have become a favorite destination for Chile’s top chefs and foragers to gather ingredients.

Taste Chef Leo de la Iglesia’s 7-course menu, including local delicacies like locos (Chilean abalone) and conger eel alongside many of the ingredients you foraged for, paired with fine local wines.

Savour the flavour of the wines born in this region during this half-day outing. The Casablanca Valley is a sub-region of the Aconcagua Valley, but its vineyards - first planted in the early 1980s - have earned worldwide recognition in a relatively short space of time.
Casas Del Bosque
Departing the pier in your air-conditioned vehicle with your guide, proceed for scenic drive to the Casablanca Valley. The warm, temperate climate of the area is greatly influenced by the coastal sea breezes, which in combination with a perfect terrier in a valley provide ideal conditions for certain varieties of grape. It is not unlike Santa Barbara and portions of Sonoma, and fittingly, the grapes that have done best over the past half-decade or so have been Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. While the area is best known for its crisp white wines, in particular Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, varieties such as Gewürztraminer and certain lighter reds such as Pinot Noir are fast becoming the varieties du jour.
Your first visit will be made at the Casas Del Bosque vineyard which was chosen as the 'Chilean Vineyard of the Year' according to the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London. The visit will commence with a guided tour of the winery and cellars. The tour visits the deck overlooking the Pinot Noir sector, the Harvest Courtyard, the tank cellar, the bottling plant and finally the Barrel cellar. Next, continue with a tasting focusing on their superb, award-winning premium red and white wines including their award-winning Sauvignon Blanc. A selection of dried fruits and cheeses will be served to accompany the wines during the tastings.
Viña Mar
From here we visit Viña Mar which is another of Casablanca's emerging vineyards. Along with its whites and reds, the winery is currently producing Chile's best sparkling wines, many of which are produced and bottled for other, larger vineyards. A tasting of their superb Méthode Champenoise is included during the visit.
Following this visit, re-join your transfer for the return ride to the pier and your awaiting ship.
Please note: This tour involves minimal walking and is suitable for guests with limited mobility; however it is not wheelchair accessible. Guests should dress in light-weight seasonal clothing with flat, walking shoes. Guests must be over the age of 18 years to take part in the wine tasting. Order of sights may vary.
Explore the splendid art, culture and history of Chile during this picturesque, half-day sightseeing excursion.
Viña del Mar, Scenic Drive, Walking Tour
Leave the pier and drive approximately 30 minutes along the coastal road to reach the city and resort of Viña del Mar. Pass by the Santa Maria Technical University, the Recreo Yachting Club and Portales Cove. Once in Viña del Mar, drive by the "Wolf Castle", the "flower clock" and the lovely gardens of the 1930s-style Casino and residential areas.
Stop for a gentle walk along Peru Avenue.
Fonck Museum, Moai Statue and Artefacts
Proceed for a visit to the historical and archaeological Fonck Museum, which holds an original Moai statue brought over from Easter Island. On the first floor is an interesting collection of Chilean, Pre-Columbian cultural artefacts; the second floor features an exhibition of flora and fauna.
Valparaiso, Cerro Alegre Hill, Cable Car
Return drive to Valparaiso and to Cerro Alegre hill to reach Plazuela San Luis. Here, leave the bus to walk some 5 blocks down hill along nice streets and colorful houses until you reach Paseo Yugoslavo. This place is a lovely terrace crowning the cliff and surrounded by charming old houses from the early decades of past century. Next to the Paseo is Palacio Baburriza, an Art Nouveau palace built in 1916 that today houses the Fine Arts Museum (inside visit is not included), walk to the end of the terrace to ride one of the old and traditional funiculars of Valparaíso, El Peral. In about 60 seconds ride it will get you to Plaza Sotomayor.
Plaza Sotomayor, Heroes of Iquique Monument and Intendencia
At Plaza Sotomayor, see the monument to the Heroes of Iquique, unveiled in 1886. Beneath this monument is the crypt containing the remains of the heroes who fell heroically during the Battle of Iquique. Facing the shore is the former Intendencia. Built in 1919, it now houses the Commanding Headquarters of the Naval Zone. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board the coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 1 km with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Flash photography is not permitted in the museum. The tour sequence and duration may vary.
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Valparaíso during this scenic and informative, half-day sightseeing excursion.
Valparaíso, Valparaíso Heritage Interpretation Centre, Villa Victoria
Depart the pier for your picturesque tour of Valparaíso. An UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city is an exceptional testimony to the early phase of globalisation in the late-19th century, when it became the leading commercial port on the sea routes of the Pacific Coast of South America. Your first stop is at nearby Villa Victoria, the first live exhibition of the glorious past of Valparaíso during the 19th century. It is located inside the Valparaíso Heritage Interpretation Centre, formerly an old mansion built in 1904. Villa Victoria was re-opened in 2014 after an extensive restoration effort to preserve the original glamour of one of the houses of the wealthiest woman in the city, which was converted into a bakery during the 20th century.
Old Customs Building, Plaza Sotomayor, Heroes of Iquique Monument
Following your tour, drive through the city along the way, see the Old Customs Building, erected in 1855, and stop for photos at the main historic square, Plaza Sotomayor. Here, see the Monument to the Heroes of Iquique, erected in 1886 to honour fallen Chilean sailors during the Battle of Iquique.
El Peral Funicular, Panoramic Ride & Views, Yugoslavo Promenade, Baburizza Museum
Next, head to the El Peral Funicular for a panoramic ride up one of the most historic hills. Upon arrival at the top of the hill, visit the Yugoslavo Promenade for breath-taking views of your surrounds, then stop by the Baburizza Museum to view its collection of fine arts. Following your visit, descend the El Peral Funicular, then re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 711 yards (about 650 metres), at times over uneven surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and El Peral Funicular, and 50 steps at the sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing in layers with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, bottled water. Photography/videography is prohibited inside the Baburizza Museum. The tour sequence may vary.
