Leave the port for the approximately 1 hour drive to Phaselis
Phaselis
Founded in 693 BC, Phaselis was an important port and is now boosting beautiful ruins, a historical amphitheater, an aqueduct, the agora and the baths. The remains of the ancient city of Phaselis are located by the seashore and covered with pine and cedar trees, so that even on the hottest summer days, they provide a pleasant visit.
Phaselis, the oldest settlement in the region, was one of the most important cities of the Lycian union and through its trading activities, it rapidly developed and prospered. With the weakening of the Lycian Union, it fell under the control of pirates as all other port cities. The reign of the pirates in the area ended with the Roman Empire coming to dominate the region. In the Byzantine period, it became a bishopric. It retained its importance until the 3rd century AD and declined after that.
Cable Car, Olympos Mountain, Refreshment
Following the visit of the ancient city, enjoy a 10 minute cable car ride to the Peak of Tahtali Mountain, otherwise known as Lycian Olympos, of a height of 2365 meters. At the summit take in the 360-degree view, while sipping a refreshing drink. Spend approximately 30 minute there at your leisure, before taking the cable car back to the parking place and rejoining your coach for the approximately 1 hour drive back to the ship.
Please note: Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 1.18 miles (about 1.9 kilometres), at times over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, with approximately 30 steps to negotiate at Olympos Mountain.
