Die kleine Stadt Broome hat knapp 14.000 Einwohner und besticht mit weiten Sandstränden und türkisfarbenem Meer. 1883 wurde an der Küste die einstige Perlenfischersiedlung gegründet, welche für den Anstieg der Einwohnerzahl und den Ausbau der touristischen Infrastruktur sorgte. Sie fahren mit dem Bus zum japanischen Friedhof mit 600 Gräbern aus der Zeit des Perlenbooms. Weiterfahrt zum Historischen Museum. Hier wird veranschaulicht, wie Broome im 19. Jh. als Hauptstadt der Perlenfischerei fungierte. Anschließend Fahrt durch Chinatown mit zahlreichen Restaurants und Geschäften. Hier erfolgt eine kurze Visite einer Perlenmanufaktur. Nach einer kurzen Busfahrt erreichen Sie den Cable Beach, der sich mit strahlend weißem Sand über 20 km entlang des Indischen Ozeans erstreckt. Der Cable Beach ist einer der beliebtesten und schönsten Strände im Westen Australiens und für Besucher ein ganzjähriges Ausflugsziel. Nach einem Fotostopp Rückfahrt zum Schiff.

Zunächst Transfer vom Hafen zur Roebuck Bay. Nach einem kurzen Fußmarsch über den Strand erreichen Sie das amphibische Transportboot, das Sie auf den Segel-Katamaran bringt. Anschließend startet Ihre ca. 2,5-stündige Beobachtungsfahrt. Die Roebuck Bay ist das einzige natürliche Habitat der australischen Stubsfinnendelphine, aber auch große Tümmler, Schildkröten und unterschiedlichste Seevögel können gesichtet werden. Da es sich jedoch um wilde Tiere handelt, kann eine gewisse Anzahl an Sichtungen nicht garantiert werden. An Bord werden Snacks sowie Tee/Kaffee serviert. Anschließend Rückkehr per Boot und Bus zurück.

Vielleicht haben Sie ja Freude daran, Land und Leute aus einer anderen Perspektive kennenzulernen, und zwar entspannt mit dem E-Bike und mit ausreichend Zwischenstopps. Sei es in Kombination mit Stopp in einer ursprünglichen Gaststätte fernab von touristischem Gedränge oder bei einer Stippvisite einer der "klassischen" Sehenswürdigkeiten der Region - seien Sie gewiss, dass Sie mit vielen neuen Eindrücken zurück an Bord kommen.

Über den genauen Tourenverlauf, Distanzen und zu erwartende Höhenmeter (immer in moderater Geschwindigkeit) informiert Sie Ihr E-Bike-Führer an Bord. Fahrt zur Malcolm Douglas Krokodilfarm, Heimat von Kasuaren, Dingos, Kängurus, Emus, Schlangen und natürlich von Salzwasser- und Süßwasserkrokodilen. Sie unternehmen eine einstündige Führung durch den Park und haben Gelegenheit, die Tiere zu beobachten. Weiterfahrt zur berühmten 22 km langen Cable Beach mit weißen Sandstränden und türkisfarbenem Meer – schöne Fotomotive bieten sich Ihnen. Sie fahren zum Gantheaume Point, eine Landzunge mit roten Sandsteinklippen, wo Sie Fußabdrücke von Dinosauriern entdecken können (bei niedriger Tide). Genießen Sie während eines Spaziergangs die wunderschöne Landschaft. Rückfahrt zum Schiff.

Sie besuchen einige der traditionellen Stätten rund um die Stadt Broome, lernen den Reichtum an traditionellen Heilmitteln sowie Heilpflanzen kennen und erhalten einen Einblick in die Naturnahrung der Ureinwohner. Eine knappe Stunde von Broome entfernt können Sie bei Willie Creek Pearls in die Welt der Perlenzucht eintauchen. Ihr Reiseleiter erklärt Ihnen die Zuchtmethoden und die unterschiedlichen Qualitätsmerkmale, die den Wert einer Perle bestimmen. Anschließend fahren Sie mit einem Boot hinaus und besuchen die Austernbänke der Farm, wo die Austernart Pinctada Maxima wächst. Diese Austern sind außergewöhnlich groß und produzieren die berühmten Südseeperlen. Ihr Gewicht kann bis zu 5 kg betragen und die Perlen können eine Größe bis zu 20 mm erreichen. Im Anschluss besuchen Sie Harvest Cafe und stärken sich mit bei einem kleinen Snack, bevor Sie danach zum Schiff zurückkehren.

Depart pier for approximately 15-minute transfer to the hovercraft dock. Upon arrival, embark on this thrilling experience featuring witty and informative commentary as you explore Broome's various coastal environments. Because it draws only a small amount of water, your hovercraft is able to visit sites inaccessible by other means, including mangrove thickets, tidal flats and sand bars.

Broome City Tour & the Pearl Luggers Museum
Depart the pier for a narrated, approximately 30-minute sightseeing drive through Broome. Along the way, see Chinatown, Matso's and Captain Gregory's House and Town Beach. Your first stop is at the Pearl Luggers Museum. The museum chronicles Broome's glory days in the 19th century, when the city was known as the 'Pearl-fishing Capital of the World'. During your visit, learn about this bygone era and view historical exhibits that include a pair of beautifully-restored, sail-powered pearl luggers.
Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park
Next, your tour continues with a visit to the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park. Founded by adventurer, filmmaker and former crocodile hunter Malcolm Douglas in 1983, the park is home to estuarine crocs. The crocs, some bearing such colourful monikers as Agro, Miss Fitzroy and Deek, are mostly rogue specimens captured after annoying fishermen or frequenting public waterways. After some free time at your leisure to explore the park, proceed for a visit to Gantheaume Point.
Gantheaume Point
The red sandstone cliffs of Gantheaume Point stand in contrast to the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. While Gantheaume Point's 130-million-year-old dinosaur footprints are best seen during low tides, a plaster cast is available for viewing. Nearby is Anastasia's Pool, which was carved from the sandstone by a former lighthouse keeper for his arthritic wife.

Depart pier for approximately 30-minute transfer to Cable Beach, named after the telephone cable that was laid in 1889 connecting Broome with Java. Experience this iconic beachfront by camel. Camel ride along this strip of sand have long been a local icon, and definitely a quintessential Broome experience that any visitor to the area would regret missing out on.
Take in stunning vistas of sea, sky and sand atop your friendly 'ship of the desert'. Enjoy a comfortable half hour ride, each camel carrying two riders. Guests must be agile and flexible enough to board the camel, which involves lifting their leg high enough to climb aboard the saddle and place their feet in the stirrups on either side. The camels are quite wide; once you have boarded the camel with assistance from your guide, the camel will rise up from the sand and stand. The camel will roll forward and then back, causing a slight jolting movement as they stand. Guests must hold on tight to the saddle and not lean to either side. Each camel accommodates two riders. The maximum weight for participating on this tour is 90kg per person and 160kg per camel (based on two riders). Long pants or trousers and sun protection are recommended. Space on this tour is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment.

One of the highlights of this excursion is standing in the perfectly preserved, 120-million-year-old dinosaur footprints that are fossilised in rock on a secluded beach. Learn about the early Cretaceous period and the dinosaurs that stamped their mark on history will leave you bewildered.
Get a chance to explore this intriguing coastline on a specially designed boat which allows you to disembark directly onto the beach. Take part in a fully guided tour with entertaining and informative commentary and a chance to see various bird species found within Roebuck Bay.
